Description
I designed a set of four icons for the Yosemite, Redwood, Channel Islands, and Joshua Tree National Parks, aiming to create a hypothetical visual identity for each. My goal was to create cohesion in the set, while distinguishing each individually by a landmark or form with significance to each park. To capture the organic and natural forms found within each park, I focused on line weight, shape, and negative space. Loosely inspired by Massimo Vignelli’s publication program for the National Park Service, I designed an informational four-panel pamphlet to model how the icons would function in situ and within a larger design system.
